Professor Li Jie from Central South University Invited to Deliver Academic Report at the 25th Graduate Innovation Academic Forum

(Correspondent: Cheng Ran) On the afternoon of June 5, the 25th Graduate Innovation Academic Forum was held in Conference Room 305, Building 1, Northwest District, Liufang Campus. Professor Li Jie, a member of the Party Committee, second-level professor, and doctoral supervisor at Central South University, was invited to deliver an academic report titled "Development and Application of Digital and Intelligent Technologies for Aluminum Electrolysis." The report session was chaired by Dean Yu Junxia of the School of Chemistry and Environmental Engineering.

         

Centering on the topic "Development and Application of Digital and Intelligent Technologies for Aluminum Electrolysis," Professor Li Jie presented his report against the backdrop of the strategic demand for digital transformation and upgrading of China's non-ferrous metals industry. He elaborated in depth on the latest research progress in the field of intelligent and digital metallurgy, with a systematic focus on intelligent control technologies for the aluminum electrolysis process, the application of big data analytics in metallurgical engineering, and the implementation of digital twin technology in aluminum electrolysis production lines. He pointed out that, under the context of the "Dual Carbon" goals, promoting the development of aluminum electrolysis technology toward intelligent and green directions is an essential path for the industry's high-quality development.

During the report, Professor Li Jie, drawing on his extensive experience in metallurgical engineering research, provided a detailed introduction to the latest research achievements of his team at the National Engineering Research Center for Low-Carbon Nonferrous Metallurgy, as well as their research efforts in the first batch of pioneering projects for discipline breakthroughs under the Ministry of Education and major national science and technology projects. He emphasized that interdisciplinary integration is a key pathway to driving technological innovation in the traditional metallurgical industry, and encouraged graduate students to focus on integrating multidisciplinary knowledge in their research and studies.

During the interactive Q&A session, Professor Li Jie engaged in in-depth discussions with faculty and students on topics such as energy consumption optimization strategies in the aluminum electrolysis process, challenges in the industrialization and promotion of intelligent technologies, and the integrated development of new energy and traditional metallurgical industries. He patiently addressed the questions and confusions that faculty and students encountered in their research topic selection and technical route planning, and shared valuable insights based on his own research career experience. The atmosphere was lively and engaging, and participants expressed that they had greatly benefited from the session, which further broadened their academic horizons and research perspectives.
